Single

Required Documents

  • ID and passport of the deceased

Married

Required Documents

  • Marriage certificate or family register
  • ID and passport of the deceased
  • Certificate of Registration

Widowed

Required Documents

  • Marriage certificate or family registe
  • Death certificate of the spouse
  • possibly marriage certificate
  • ID and passport of the deceased

Divorced

Required Documents

  • Marriage certificate or family register
  • final divorce decree
  • ID and passport of the deceased
  • registration certificate, if applicable
Why are these documents required?

The documents are required by the registry office in order to obtain the death certificates. Without death certificates, a burial or transfer is not possible. Additionally, the death certificate will later also be needed for deregistrations, inheritance matters, pension claims, etc.
