Islamic funeral in Germany

Islamic funerals also possible in German cemeteries.

The latest revision of the Burial Act allows us Muslims more and more to carry out burials according to the rites of our faith in Germany. This is a great relief for Muslims in Germany. Almost every city and municipality offers Muslim burial options – including burials without a coffin.

The Islamic burial without a coffin has also become our responsibility and is carried out sensitively and professionally by our staff. In a burial without a coffin, the body is placed in the grave. One or two people enter the grave and carefully lay the deceased on their right side. Afterwards, one of the two people covers the grave with so-called ‚grave boards.‘ These are wooden boards that ensure the soil does not come into direct contact with the body. The grave is then filled in, and prayers are recited by our Imam.

The type of burial also depends on the weather conditions

Burial without a coffin is becoming increasingly popular in Germany, but it is very much dependent on the weather. Before each interment, we check the weather to ensure that the deceased can be laid to rest in the best possible way and without any complications.
