There are several places in Hamburg where Muslim graves can be found. A well-known place is the Olsdorfer Friedhof Ohlsdorfer Friedhof, where Muslim graves have been created since 1941. These tombs are oriented so that the feet point to the northeast and the head to the southwest to pray Mecca.
Another place is the Oejendorfer Friedhof Friedhof Öjendorf, which also allows Muslim burials. The graves are often decorated with artistically crafted gravestones that bear names and often suras from the Koran in Turkish or Arabic script.
